Dr.
Padgett is director of the Hall School of Journalism and Communication and specializes
in technology. He is a Professor of Journalism and served as
the last dean of the Hall
School of Journalism before it was merged into the College of Communication and Fine Arts.
Prior
to joining the Hall School of Journalism and Communication's faculty, Dr. Padgett
taught at Auburn University.
Dr. Padgett
has more than 20 years of professional media experience and has
worked in several positions including as a reporter, commentator,
manager and broadcast engineer at several radio and television stations
including:
WPDQ (Jacksonville,
Fla.)
WRLJ (Jacksonville, Fla.)
WMMB (Melbourne, Fla.)
WTVX-TV (Fort Pierce, Fla.)
AFNE (Frankfurt, Germany)
WRUF (Gainesville, Fla.)
WTLN (Orlando, Fla.)
In addition,
he worked for the U.S. Army Third Armored Division's Office of Public
Affairs. This office was responsible for the division's newspaper, Spearhead and the
division's radio program, Spectrum.
Dr. Padgett produced and was the host on the Keith L. Ware Award winning Spectrum program.
Spectrum was a weekly news, interview and commentary program
aired on the American Forces Network in Europe (AFNE). The Keith L. Ware Award is the U.S. Army's
highest honor awarded to journalists.

Dr. Padgett
serves as Troy University's Academic Webmaster and as the
campus Academic Linux Administrator. Dr. Padgett is also known as Troy University's Macintosh
computer expert.
Dr. Padgett held a Federal Communications Commission First Class
Commercial Radiotelephone license until the FCC replaced
that license class with the
General Radiotelephone license and he holds an
Extra Class Amateur Radio License. Dr. Padgett is an
accredited volunteer examiner working with the Montgomery
CAVEC group administering amateur radio examinations for the
FCC.
