Professor Evan's professional experience includes:
* Director of the National Journalism Center in Washington, DC until September 2002
* Editor of the Indianapolis News, 1960-1974
* Nationally syndicated columnist between 1973 and 1985
* Commentator with WGMA, the Voice of American, National Public Radio and CBS radio and television 1971-1992
* Author of seven books including: Revolt on the Campus, The Liberal Establishment, The Politics of Surrender, The Future of Conservatism, The Lawbreakers, Clear and Present Dangers and The Theme is Freedom
